Healthy Beetroot Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a staple breakfast for most of us. I love oat meal a lot because it is versatile, easy to prepare and time saving. Oatmeal is a time saving mealcan be very but I always find myself going back to smoothie bowls for breakfast. For some reason, I’ve been having a craving for warm breakfast and but didnt want to have bland oatmeal.

I enjoy adding vegetables to my smoothie and thought to add one of my favourite vegetables – beetroot to my oatmeal. It tasted so delicious and out of this world that it has now become my go to breakfast bowl. The best thing about this oatmeal is that it is very healthy, vegan and refined-sugar free.


1/2 cup of shreded beetroot

1 cup of oatmeal

1/2 cup of dates

1 mashed midium size banana

1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder

1 teaspoon of cardamom powder

1 teaspoon of ginger powder


You can add any plant-based milk of your choice to your oatmeal if you like a lighter consistency.

Preparation time

3-5 minutes


  • Combine water, cinnamon, cardamom and ginger powder with rolled oats  over a medium heat.
  • Keep stirring until the desired consistency is reached.
  • Remove from heat  and add in mashed banana, shreded beetroot and dates.
  • Pour into the oatmeal into a bowl and add  your toppings. I have used mango,cashew nut, pumpkin, flax, chia and sesame seeds.
